Ginger Wood is an educator with Lee’s Summit School District, teaching English Language Learners. Her students experience another primary language in their homes and the goal is to help them become more proficient in reading and speaking the English language. Her professional teaching career started in 1999, with 14 of these years being in Lee’s Summit. Ginger grew up in church as a preacher’s kid. She is used to always being involved in church activities and serving others. She became a member of Faith Journey Church of the Nazarene in 2007. She has volunteered her time and talents in many different ways throughout her years at Faith Journey. She has served as the Church Board Secretary for many years, she helps in various ways with the baby and children’s ministries, and she likes to be available to help with different activities and projects around the church. She enjoys using her musical talent by singing and playing the keyboard for worship services. Ginger began helping with the Community Care site team through Faith Journey and Mission Southside. She later joined Life Journey Foundation’s board, where she is currently serving as treasurer for the Foundation. Spending time with her family, which includes 3 teenage nieces, is always a delight for Ginger. She loves spoiling them and taking them places to have fun experiences. She also loves to travel and is excited whenever she can mark off another country as being visited. She enjoys her 1897 Victorian home and spending time with her kitties. In her free time, she likes to cross stitch, bringing back fond memories of her grandma who did some beautiful cross stitch pieces.
